Living Room Ideas Sims 3

greetings, lgr here to talk about the sims 4! and if you don't want to talk about the sims 4 then just wait a couple days for something more interesting to come along.if you do then stick around. let's talk about it because the sims 4 just passed its two-year anniversary. it came out september 2, 2014 i believe, and well here it is 2016 in september and that anniversary just sort of cameand went and i didn't see anybody talk about it, maybe a couple hardcore fan sites mentioned it, but nah! i didn't even see the developers really mention it,maybe they were just busy. maybe i was just busy. why didn't i see it?i don't know.

that's what got me thinking and making me, err... made me want to do this video because why don't i care about this gamevery much anymore? and it comes down to the fact that i think this past two years have been the weakest in the sims' history. and if you're still like on fire for the game, like it really gets you rock-hard, then more power to you. i wish i was there, perhapsyou haven't played the series as long as i have! not to sound elitist or anythingbut i think it does make a difference where you come into the series as to howmuch enjoyment you're going to get out of the sims 4, because while the sims 4is very approachable, accessible

streamlined, a whole bunch of otherbuzzwords that sounds really good and pr speak, it doesn't necessarily translateto deep or meaningful gameplay, and that, i think is what it comes down to as faras why i'm just not engaged in the series anymore. and at first i also thought well, maybe i'm just getting older about 30 years old now so, ahh! it's just time, i'm moving on. well, no, i still love going back to the older sims games and my gaming preferences haven't really changed inthe past 10-15 years for other stuff either, lmao ok? well, because the game has changed in a pretty fundamental level.

yes, it's still about simulating peopleand doing whatever you want and sort of a sandbox-y environment, but it's also donein such a way now that feels like a step back... in my head and i'm not just talkingabout the features, i'm talking about the way that it feels to play for any length of time beyond, like the review period. and so i went back and looked at my sims 4 review from two years ago and i had a lot of fun with the game for what it was. i thought there were a lot of things missingthat i thought should have been there,

you know, the open-world was gone, the customization for color wheels and textures were gone, toddlers weren't there, pools weren't there. some of the stuff has been added, most of it has not, that's fine because at release at thetime i thought it was fine because it ran better, but i realized that's not really a reason to say "oh, this game is still worth playing" two years later because it runs well. that's just not a fair trade-off for me, overall because computers are getting faster all the time, which makes the sims 3 more playable all the time to a degree.

i have played it again recently on my newer computer and it does run, load much better, albeit with not everything installed, but it's certainly friggin' playable! so, i know that's not the truth for everyone, though, and in that case the sims 4 is by far the better experience because you're not waiting 10minutes to get into the game sometimes, and that's understandable, but it doesn't make it a better game. it makes it playable, it makes it more approachable, and makes it easier to get into, especially for newer players or peoplethat just have older computers and that's fine. maybe you don't have the money toupgrade, 4 is a good option.

but, if you're like meand you're craving something a little more, or at least something to keep you halfway investedover two years of time, sims 4 just hasn't cut it! and so i look back at the sims 1,it was so exciting for those first two years because it was a brand-new game, everything was new and fresh,we were getting expansions like left and right like "whoa, what are these!?", it was crazy. the sims 2 comes along and itadds stuff packs to the mix, plus it was just an all new way of playing the game in 3d with the camera you can move anywhere

and there was way more amountsof customization for your sims in the clothing and what they could do, it was great.and that kept me invested for years! i mean i played that up until the sims 3came out - like, the day of! and then the sims 3, of course, open-world,customization all over the place i'm the way more stuff to do in the gamejust layers upon layers upon layers of things and skills and and areas to goand explore and objects to find collected stuff you do with thoseobjects you can make jobs out of nothing basically want to go out and justcollect rocks all day and then send them off and then display them in a case andthen you know break into your neighbor's

house because you could and steal theirstuff because kleptomaniac and it was there are so many things you could doand a cars driving places man it was neat about the only thing you couldn'tdo and then i really wanted and thought the sims 4 would alleviate a lot whererat holes which were the buildings that you could sort of go into which couldsee the inside of a thought that was a big missed opportunity i think theycould have handled that better even if it involves loading screens they couldhave done that they didn't maybe it just would have been too much for thecomputers at the time it's possible but with the sims 4 they at least addresseda lot of this stuff they made it you

know a lot of loading screens everywherebut they did get rid of the fact that you go into a building or something andthere were only like two sims in there the sims 3 well here you got like 20inside of a building pretty neat and the fact that there were just any kind ofbuildings you can go into especially now that they've added more stuff in theexpansions you can go to restaurants again you can order things again andrestaurants and your clubs and whatever else they've added jobs and stuff likethat and get to work back really cool i like that stuff what does it do that's actuallydifferent than the base game the sims 4

not much it's like a different skinthat's on top of the the same the same kind of thing over and over and overlike for me a house lot doesn't feel significantly different from arestaurant lot from any other lot it just doesn't the surroundings might be alittle bit different you might have more sims coming to the place if you have itopen to the public so to speak but you can get just as many sims if you invitethem over to your house i mean i i don't know it just doesn't feel like asignificantly different experience to me other than a little bit of aesthetics and i think that's really what we'regoing to get the sims 4 and that to me

is just not enough it's a lot of thesame kind of stuff reskinned over and over and over with a little bit ofdifferent animations you know you know it's like this okay so we get a new jobfor your sims to go to and get to work back for instance i thought that wasreally cool but what i realized you're basically doing nothing of real valueand the stuff you don't you that you do doesn't make a big difference on theworld you're in it just felt like i was checking off a bunch of boxes and beinglike okay here do this animation do this animation do this one and then come backhome i guess and you have money ok that's not enjoyable to me at all i'mjust looking at different animations and

things it reminds me of like an mmo and you getlike a new dance animation is like 0 / dance 3 perform that action in the simsall / you have to take a picture of this person in a jail okay what did that donothing really it just gave me something else to look at and that's not what i'mlooking for i'm really looking for the type ofcontent i guess that makes me feel like i am changing the world around or thatis changing around me and the sims 3 was very good at that i think there's also that lack ofpersistence going on in the overall

world in the sims 4 compared to threeespecially you know i don't see everyone sort of moving on having kids gettingdifferent homes or whatever and you know changing things around them whereas thisis for everything is pretty well static yeah sure people get older and die allthe time but uh i don't feel any connection to them whatsoever part of that has to do with the factthat your homes are their own little sanctuaries you know if you want to walkoutside the house you can do it to a degree but no further than that you'vejust looking it up 2d map and a loading screen

so every one of these feels like aninstance as opposed to a world that you're in everything else in thebackground you see it's just set dressing and next set dressing is fineand dandy but i would like some actual meat to go with my dressing yeah i don't salad i want to meet atthat makes sense i don't know now i do like what they'vebeen doing as far as the game packs strictly because they're cheaper as sowhat that's nice i like the fact that those do add some new kind of gameplayelements more so than even the stuff packs do everything is cheaper stuffpacks are cheaper game packs are you

know cheaper than expansions expansionsi guess about the same but even those don't feel as expansive i don't knowit's hard to say we've only had two to expansion packs in two years 8 stuffpacks which is why ralph is now sitting in a pile of body parts on the floor incase you're not aware that's the doll that i caught up in protest of so manylackluster stuff packs be coming out he's been cut up the pieces but yeah ikinda do like the game packs i like the the dining out game pack especiallywhere you can make your restaurants and stuff that was neat i kind of felt like it should have beenpart of the get to work pack whatever it

was its own pack it was very well donefor what it was that added some pretty that's the closest i think we've come sofar to what i want as far as that kind of a depth and a change of what you'reactually doing managing and running a restaurant was awesome it was much moreenjoyable than just running a little store and that gets to get to work packa spa day that was a game packed it now it was fun for what it was it wasrelaxing his balls for a little while playing it but that's not reallysomething i go back to do anything with anymore at all and then there was the outdoor retreatone and that was fine

it was fine i i like i just that wasinteresting at the time because it was a game packing up with something new assomething that i recommend any more not really you can do without it entirelyfar far as i'm concerned it's nice to have sort of a different set dressingthing to go and look at some trees and bears but yeah you're not doing anythingdifferent they're that you couldn't do at your home and i think that's justsort of the thing that they want every single possibility to just exist in asort of an equal level playing field where you can do no wrong there's no real consequences foranything you're not you know death is

much harder in this game the sims 4that's disappointing that and then let's talk about some of those new things thatreally were supposed to set the service for apart namely multitasking emotionsthe emotions that they were interesting at first but when you figure out thatthey are just it is just another animation on top of the normal ones youknow you angry poop or something every so often it's the same thing as anyother time you go to the toilet is just to do it angrily i guess it doesn'treally affect much of anything in some cases it will let you do somethingdifferent that maybe wouldn't come up as easily you know beating somebody up ifyou're angry you're hot-headed or

whatever is kind of it kind of feelslike an extension of the traits system to be honest whereas the emotions aretemporary traits and you know i find the traits to be pretty lacking in this 12sure it gives them extra animations but does it really make them feel likeunique individual stems with personalities not so much to me it allmy sims i find it hard time to tell them apart no not because of the way they lookbecause the customization is great the extra customization that they've addedas far as a creative sims has been pretty cool- the the color wheels or the lackthereof and things like that

and yeah emotions i don't know they're prettysurfacy and and you can just ignore them for the most part and they're veryeasily manipulated to easily manipulated you just take an object in the house andsaid you have this emotional and that emotion you can just control everything to sucha ridiculous degree that it feels more of a god game the life simulator andthat well that's cool its own degree i like having some options there i feellike with every pack they're just adding more and more ways to do the same thingslike i could already changed my sims emotions a million different ways do ireally need like this new drink or food or chair or something that makes my simskind of feel gloomy so that they can i

don't know i don't know what the pointof any of that is the multitasking was something that was again pretty cool atfirst but has really come to urk me over time because i have when you and get amultitasking thing going on your sim has like a drink in one hand and talking tosomebody there watching tv and they're sitting down that's kinda neat but if you're justwanting them to work on their skills or get to their job or something like thatand they're too busy doing all these other things it takes like five hours orsomething sometimes for your sims to eat a meal in sims time and i feel like iget less done in this sims game than any

previous ones because of themultitasking sort of gets in the way yeah and you know a lot of other littlethings that just make the sims feel way more ethereal like nothing is reallygoing on of substance since can walk straight through each other instead ofhaving to you know all please get out of the way you know doors are just likeyeah whatever they're just sort of things that are there i don't know there's a lot of stuff thatfeels a theory all there's no vehicles of any substance you know we can't driveanywhere so just it just feels like i'm looking at ... like an unfinishedtheme park if that makes sense it's like

okay well a lot of the rides technicallywork but they're just sort of going through the motions and that's about it they're not going to change it you knowwhat you're going to see 30 40 50 hours into the game after just playing for afew hours and that is disappointing there are a few extra little things thati guess maybe you're kind of interesting like i like you know the the idea ofbuilding a spaceship and go into an alien world and so that was cool but a ... again once you see it do it's like okay well that's done that was just a quick there's a lot oflittle quick side things as opposed to

anything that makes me want to reallyplay the game as in-depth as i used to and and you know maybe that's just myfault because i want a different game than it is and they're not willing tomake that game that's totally possible but i think that a lot of these peopledo want to make the game that are working on it and a lot of them justcan't talk about some of their aggravations and frustrations especiallyif you read some of the forum post on the sims 4 forums and some of the thingsthat some of the pr people have said and you know it's like they want to talkabout why toddlers aren't in the game but they can't so they just don't orthey want to talk about adding certain

features here and there that people areasking for like seasons or cats or whatnot but they just don't and i feellike there's a lot of hands being tied a lot of mouths being taped shut and thatsucks i would love to stay here communication back and forth as opposedto like somebody coming out every so often be like yeah this is the simsteam's official stance because it has to be contractually obligated we can't sayanything but we promised we haven't forgotten you now alright well two yearshave passed ok where is all of this stuff that issupposedly coming why are there only two expansion packswhen it sounded like there was gonna be

a lot more and i don't know all gamesfeels like a facade of something that is a sort of a stopgap placeholder forsomething better in the future at least i hope it is i'm ready to moveon i don't want the sims 4 around anymore i dont i i've given up at thispoint on it becoming the game that i wanted to be and that's not to say thatthere's not still fun there there there is still plenty of enjoyable things tohave and the lower price point of forty dollars that it has nowadays makes thatmore more enjoyable you know you pay less money for something that's alwaysmakes it more fun to me so that's that's great there's stillthings that you can do to have fun with

the game and there's mods and stuff outthere to make it even better huh but it's just not the game that i wantanymore and i can't feel any kind of passion about it at all i can't you knowthere's a new city pack supposedly coming along it's the leaks are to bebelieved and to me it just looks like yet another bit of set dressing on topof a game that's just not very fun overall you know he's gonna make a bigdifference to me if my sim has a house that looks kind of like it's in a cityand instead of out in the desert or something not really i'm going to be doing thesame boring things in that house i'm

going to be doing the same routines overand over manipulating the same emotions very easily very predictably i'm goingto be having the same basic relationships with every single stemit's like you want to seem to be your best friend your enemy or your loverbecause each of those things are within like four klicks of the social wheellike it's absurd how simple this game really is and the more time you play itthe more you realize that and that's what has been bugging me for two yearsas i keep waiting for the extra layer of depth that is that makes a realdifference to how i playing it's just not there so there's some of my thoughtsstill not a game that i hate or anything

but it's a game that i'm supremelydisappointed in over two years and not see any real notable improvements as faras depth a lot of little small things added you know we've got pools now we'vegot some extra lighting effects and we've got some ways to use differentclothing on different body types and stuff that's awesome but what's itactually doing for making it a better game not much not much really at all leastthese are my thoughts i would like to hear yours maybe you still think is the greatestgame ever maybe you think it's even

worse than i'm saying or maybe you'rejust sort of in the middle you think it's pretty decent and you're just kindof like how i was two years ago and you you know it's a good game shows potentialbut they just haven't really gotten there yet you're waiting for somethingcool i don't know let me know though in the comments i'm curious to see whatpeople are thinking at this point 2 years after the game has launched andso yeah we've had eight stuff packs three-game packs two expansions andmaybe something else in the future because they're not really saying ashyou know the fact that there was like no booth for them at e3 and all these otherthings whether you'd expect there to be

some announcements and events andthere's just not i don't know it feels kind of like this is on the downwardtrend for the sims 4 and you know you know another reason i think they're on adownward trend this is just me kind of being facetious but no seriously becausethey've approached me to that they've given me some early copies of thesepacks to review and i think well that's really cool of them maybe it was just anoversight in the past that wasn't getting of high look the part of melikes to joke like oh man this they must be really doing bad if they want me toreview the bags i don't know i know the game still sells pretty well but i justthought that was funny as i'm getting

more and more disinterested in theseries or at least this part of the series all the sudden they start sendingme stuff packs and things to review yeah there's no money being exchangedtheir they just give me an early copy they did actually asked me to be moreinvolved than that i will go into the specifics of it but i declined because ithink that that would get in the way of the integrity of lgr if i were to do toomuch more than just reviewing these things and you know maybe getting a codefew days early i don't want to be involved in thedevelopment of inner behind-the-scenes things or stuff where had to sign theywant me to that design like agreements

non-disclosures contractual stuff andlike i want to do that i just don't want to do that i think that would get in theway of being honest or something so anyway it's an interesting time for thesims and the sims 4 what's going to happen i don't know a lot of people areexpecting some other versions by now to like maybe there'd be a console versionor something like that but nope none of that alright thanks now it seems to be a lackof investment on the publisher and development side and that's resulted inlack of investment in me so let me know what you think thanks for watching i'm

going to go get some lunch at i don'tknow what but it's gonna be good
